About Therapy

Why therapy?

A positive experience of ourselves can be shattered or stunted by a range of events.
Those can be:

  • a traumatic event such as the loss of a loved one, separation, a move to a new place, loss of a job, a violent incident etc.
  • constant anxiety or stress
  • repetitive patterns of self destructive relationships and behaviours
  • past experiences of abuse, neglect, rejection and abandonment
  • loneliness
  • chronic pain
  • a sense of inner emptiness or deadness

So what do we do? Making a decision to seek help is not always easy.  And then finding the right kind of help can be just as difficult. Research has shown conclusively that counselling and psychotherapy are very effective treatments for many of the problems, issues and difficulties that people in distress face. Therapy works to alleviate your feelings of distress and facilitate your capacity to move forward with a clearer and more vibrant experience of who you are and what is important to you.
